The Victorian Association of Family History Organisations (VAFHO) are holding their AGM on Saturday August 27th (1 pm to 4 pm) at the Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) – and you’re invited!
Don’t miss this opportunity to do a little research at either PROV or National Archives Australia on the day and listen to two great guest speakers:
Charlie Farrugia, Senior Collections Advisor PROV, will be speaking on Convicted and neglected: researching Victorian Wards of the State 1864-1960 at PROV. Wardship and how to find information using the Children’s Registers (Ward Books).
Ada Ackerley, PROV Researcher, will be speaking on Finding Treasures at PROV. For 30 years Ada has compiled indexes and has found very interesting and exciting backgrounds to do with estates, family arguements, Naval embarassments, unregistered births, missing wills and the misdeamenours of railway employees. Ada never loses her enthusiasm for research and sharing her finds.
VAFHO look forward to having many of their member organisations present on the day (of which we are one). The event is free but bookings are essential. For further details or to book please contact VAFHO’s Secretary, Di Christensen on 9703 2985 or
send Di an email.
The PROV is at 99 Shiel Street, North Melbourne (see events page for map).
