Sorry, we’re closed

At an extraordinary committee meeting last night we reluctantly decided to close the Lorraine Taylor Research Room immediately until the 30th April 2020, possibly longer. We cannot risk the health and safety of our fabulous volunteers and we cannot envisage a way to continue to deliver services in the Research Room and maintain good social distancing practices.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep members informed as the COVID-19 threat develops.  In addition to closing the Research Room we have also decided to cancel April’s general meeting and cemetery tours meeting. Our scheduled Volunteers’ Morning Tea in May will be postponed as will the upcoming writing group meeting. We will not be participating in the Casey Cardinia Heritage Festival due to it being cancelled and our Bunnings sausage sizzle in April will now not go ahead.

Our newsletter editor has offered to coordinate online research assistance as many of us have resources at home – please email Marianne (newsletter.editor@nwfhg.org.au) if you think we can help. We’re also looking at developing an online questions and answers/forum space on our website enabling members to share their knowledge. We know that many of us will use time spent at home researching our family trees.

If you have any suggestions or queries, please contact me or other committee members, all our contact details are on page 2 of Spreading Branches.

The committee look forward to getting together once it is safe to do so and hearing all about the fabulous discoveries you’ve made and the brick walls you’ve smashed but until then, stay safe.
