National Family History Week Open Day

National Family History Week 29 July to 8 August 2011

National Family History Week is the brainchild of the Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations (AFFHO). It’s purpose is to bring to the forefront family history organisations and services. According to AFFHO’s website, family history and genealogy is the second biggest subject on the web and there’s over a quarter of a million Australians who are members of family history related organisations – so I wonder just how many Australians are doing family history then?

It’s a great opportunity to explore or get to know new people, places and things to do with family history, many of them free! AFFHO have a National Family History Week website that lists all events for the week, state by state making it easy to find what might inerest you. All types of events are being held – talks, open days, seminars, walks, book launches and expos just to name a few.

We’re doing our bit and holding an Open Day on Thursday 4 August between 11 am and 3 pm. So, if you’re not a member of the Narre Warren & District Family History Group but would like the opportunity to say Hello, check out our resources, do a bit of research or just pick our brains – we’d love to see you.

No bookings required – just come along. We’ll have tea and coffee available throughout the day and members on hand to show you around.
