We’ve got a fabulous day planned for anyone with an interest in cemeteries, and let’s face it, that would include most family and local historians.

We start the day off at 10 am with Jan Rigby and Lois Comeadow from Brighton Cemetorians who are going to tell about Friends of Cemeteries groups in general, and their group in particular.

At 10.45 Val Wilson from the Mornington & District Historical Society will tell us about Mornington Cemetery and its fabulous website.

After a light morning tea, Libby Skidmore from Bass Valley Historical Society will talk to us about Mourning Customs before Jane Rivett-Carnac from Narre Warren & District Family History Group will tell us that You can learn a lot in a cemetery: dead men do tell tales.

After a break for lunch (BYO, but we will have tea/coffee available) Dr Celestina Sagazio from the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust will present her Interesting cemetery tales and humorous epitaphs talk.

You can secure your free ticket at Eventbrite or contact Lynne 0413 182 551 or Heather 0407 5221 637 for more information or assistance. There is plenty of parking at the complex and a bus runs from Cranbourne railway station to the complex. Download the flyer here.
