Casey Cardinia Pages

The Casey Cardinia region encompasses the City of Casey and the Shire of Cardinia and is a region rich with natural resources and history. We have a growing collection of family and local history resources for the area, all of which are available in our research room.

At present we have register and headstone transcriptions available on microfiche for the Berwick, Harkaway and Pakenham Cemeteries (see our publications page).

Our Research Room is at:

Cranbourne Library: 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne. It is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm.

* the Research Room closes at 1.45 on the second Saturday of the months of May, June, July, August and September (meeting days),

We will happily open the research room outside of these hours for visitors from outside Casey Cardinia by appointment. Please contact Lynne to arrange a time as soon as possible, the more notice we have – the easier it will be!

Casey Cardinia Combined Index Database

We’re currently working on indexing local history books for Casey Cardinia (and Dandenong) and placing them in a combined database. We have 97 books or resources indexed so far and many more to go. The database also contains details of Casey Cardinia localities and the books that have been identified with that area. At the moment the database is only available in our research room but we will forward a search report for ONE surname at a time by pdf. if requested. Please send requests to Lynne, our research officer.

Casey Cardinia Research Service

We have a research service available for researchers who cannot visit our room in person. The cost is $15 per hour (photocopying and postage extra). Our definition of ‘research’ is pretty loose, we will search our own records including rate books, local indexes, books and newsletters as well as obtaining photos of headstones or places within Casey Cardinia or most other things requested by researchers.

Casey Cardinia Local History Reference Group

Most of Casey Cardinia’s heritage groups belong to the Casey Cardinia Local History Reference Group. This group comprises representatives from both the City of Casey and the Shire of Cardinia, the Casey Cardinia Libraries and heritage groups such as ourselves. There is a lot of information on the Heritage Groups webpage and other pages at the Casey Cardinia Libraries website plus contact details for heritage groups in Casey Cardinia.
